HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 5 (ACN) The coordinator of the Network of National Cancer Institutes with the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), Luiz Antonio Santini, stressed the contribution by Cuba to the regional project, with its experience of high social impact.

The regional network has been operating in all South American countries; Cuba joined the initiative in 2007 as associated member in order to jointly address problems and priorities related to the prevalence of cancer in the region, said Santini in statements to PL news agency.
Addressing participants at the International Health Convention, underway in Havana, the UNASUR official referred to cooperation projects jointly implemented by Cuba and Brazil aimed at solving medical problems in all UNASUR member nations, particularly related to the diseases with high prevalence in the region, such as cancer.
Over one thousand specialists are attending the Havana health convention, along with ministers of health from different countries where Cuban doctors are currently offering their services.
