Havana, Apr 2 (Prensa Latina) The 12th Young Film Festival of the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC) begins today in this capital with the participation of filmmakers called to be the future of cinema in this country.
The event includes 33 short films, 28 documentaries and 11 animated films, plus a poster competition, aimed at rescuing a tradition that had Rene Azcuy and Eduardo Muñoz Bach among its classics.
“The show has changed: just as well”, joked the director of the event, Marisol Rodriguez, by plotting the spirit of this space that survives more eager than funds, constantly reinventing the criteria of the filmmakers.
Among the theoretical events are a screenplay workshop taught by Spanish Rafael Cobos, several times nominated for the Goya awards, and a course on short films’ distribution.
This exhibit also will honor 20 years of Television Serrana group, defined at the time as an “extraordinary artistic experiment” of deeply community nature.
