Beijing, Jun 19 (Prensa Latina) China today urged to seek a gradual and pragmatic solution in order to reach tangible results in the complex peace process between Israel and Palestine, during an international meeting sponsored by the United Nations in this capital.
This annual UN meeting to promote peace between Israel and Palestine concluded in Beijing today, organized by the UN for the first time and attended by representatives of about 50 nations and international organizations.
Wu Sike, China’s special envoy for the Middle East, told reporters that holding that international event in China shows this country’s active participation in the efforts to promote the peace process.
In that sense, the official recalled separate visits in May of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu, as part of Beijing government’s will to resume peace talks between the two parties.
During his meetings with Abbas and Netanyahu, President Xi Jinping presented a four-point proposal to solve the old conflict, which Wu said shows the importance given to the peace process by the new Chinese leadership, as well as the open diplomacy style in hot topics.
The special envoy added that position in favor of peace also shows China assumes global responsibilities as a world power.
