Paris, Sep 25 (Prensa Latina) European Commissioner Viviane Reding is criticizing the policy that France is enforcing against gypsies, and this country”s non-compliance with the regulations regarding free movement of people. In statements to the France Info news network, Reding charged that the situation of that minority is being used by French politicians and officials with a view to municipal and European elections in March.
“If I am not mistaken, it is election season in France. When they do not want to speak about things like budget or debt, they refer to the Roma,” said Reding in reference to the 2014 elections.
Reactions from the European Justice Commissioner’s Office appeared after French Interior Minister Manuel Valls said that the gypsy camps should be dismantled and their occupants expelled to Romania or Bulgaria.
