Cuba Hosts International Agricultural Fair

Havana, March 20 (Prensa Latina) The 20th International Agricultural Fair, Fiagrop 2017, has begun its official program here today with the participation of exhibitors from some 16 countries, to promote business and promote other activities associated with this event.

Representatives from France, Czech Republic, Germany, Venezuela, Mexico, Panama, the United States, Netherlands, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, Italy and other nations are attending this exhibition, at the Havana-based Rancho Boyeros exhibition area.

Fiagrop 2017, to be run until March 26th, began on March 18th with rodeo competitions, animal exhibitions and other activities related to cattle raising.

According to its organizers, this is the largest edition of all carried out, not only in participation but also the exhibition area, covering more than 8,000 square meters, about 2,500 under roof, with the addition of a fifth pavilion.

The aim is to contribute to the development of the economic sectors represented: Agriculture, Food Industry and Sugar.

More than 60 input and service firms are participating in this exhibition, as well as 172 exhibitors, compared to 76 in the previous edition, the event’s director, Ignacio Caraballo, said.

Fiagrop 2017 includes national and international Rodeo championships (competitors from Cuba, Venezuela, Panama and Mexico will compete in the latter). About 34 keynote speeches will be given by specialists from the Institutes on Pasture and Forage, Poultry, Pork and others entities.
