Cuban Young People Will Share Experiences at Summit of the Americas


Havana, Mar 31 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Young people will share their experiences, realities and results at the 7th Summit of the Americas Youth Forum.

President of the Continental Latin American and Caribbean Students Organization Ricardo Guardia told Prensa Latina) that among the topics to be discussed in the Forum are the need t promote free and quality education and health care services, which are considered universal rights and fundamental for the radical transformation of America.

They will also discuss at the meeting next April, the need to promote youth employment policies, as well as others against drug abuse, in favor of security and real democratic participation, Guardia added.

Mora than 500 young people met at the Youth and Americas Forum, which held sessions today at the Pabellon Cuba venue, where they worked in commissions to discuss issues related to educations, health care, energy, governability and democratic participation, among others.

After the event signed a declaration asking for more equal, prosperous and fair societies in the Americas, that take into account the peoplesâ�Ö demands and guarantee human rights for all.

The Summit of the Americas proposes as main theme Prosperity with Equity: the Cooperation Challenge in the Americas, and, in order to achieve that prosperity we should talk about equal opportunities for all, therefore we have to talk about social justice, student leader said.

Cuban Young people also demand the lifting of the economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba, condemn the inclusion of Cuba in the list of state sponsors of terrorism and foreign interference against several governments in Latin America, especially Venezuela.

ALBA Ambassadors to Cuba Support Venezuela


alba-logoHavana, Apr 10 (Prensa Latina) Ambassadors of the member countries of the Bolivarian Alternative for the People of our Americas (ALBA) expressed their support to Venezuela today in the struggle to defend peace, the homeland and independence.

“Bolivar’s homeland is a victim of an imperialist strategy, known as soft power, by means of destabilizing actions organized abroad,” said a statement circulated by the ALBA diplomats in a meeting held at the Venezuelan embassy in this capital.

The Ambassadors of Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Dominica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Cuba reiterated support from their nations to Caracas, convinced that Venezuelans would defend the peace and sovereignty of their nation, faced with fascist attacks that have tried to destroy a legitimate democracy.

The document denounced the imperialist counteroffensive in Latin America and the Caribbean, which is still on, and specified that the Venezuelan Government and people are undergoing constant pressure and the violence of the pro-coup right wing.

“We support the Venezuelan Government and people in the struggle to defend peace, the homeland and independence,” said the the text.

“We condemn the attempts of a coup against the constitutional Government and the violent incidents that have cause deaths and wounds to dozens of people, they said.

The ambassadors also called to the most extensive international solidarity, certain that the Venezuelan people will know how to defend their achievements and the legacy of President Hugo Chavez.

The expressed their support for the dialogues summoned by President Nicolas Maduro and the solidarity expressed by the Union of South American Nations.

Relations of Power Changed in ALBA Country Members, Says Correa


Guayaquil, Ecuador, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) “In the 12nd Summit of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) was ratified that in our countries the people is the one that rules, therefore the relations of power have changed”, said Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa.

“The rule of people which is guiding us to govern our countries, causes imperialism’s hate”, said Correa during the meeting with social movement at Coliseo Voltaire Paladines Polo.

The meeting represented the closure of the international summit that was attended by 9 presidents of Latin American and the Caribbean countries.

Correa criticized the two faced, false and ironic features of imperialism, and said that it was something that had to be taken into account.

He also asked social movements to be aware of organizations that use demonstrations and social features to support neoliberal causes.

“Intentions are not enough, we have to take smart actions to face provocations”, said Correa.

Near 10,000 people, representing the stance of social movements toward ALBA, demonstrated in support of Latin American integration. Continue reading
